China: Natural gas supply from LNG import alternatives reaches ~1 BCM per day
During Winter 2024, China’s natural gas market continued to demonstrate greater levels of supply-side flexibility to meet seasonal demand. For the first time in January 2025, the rate of receipts from domestic natural gas production and pipeline imports totaled nearly 1 BCM per day, or 35 Bcfd.

Balance Point Research estimates that China’s natural gas market achieved a low, single-digit rate of demand growth during Winter 2024. A sluggish domestic economy in search of a policy direction, and relatively high global gas flat prices, remain key commercial challenges for China’s natural gas demand and bid for LNG imports.
